Ravenna’s historic flagpole has been ornamenting the Portage County skyline since 1893. Built by the Van Dorn Iron Works Company of

Cleveland, Ohio, the flagpole is a splendid and apparently quite rare example of the vernacular use of elements developed for the construction of bridges and other infrastructure to create a monument of civic expression.
